Happy Birthday, Eddie!

Today Eddie spends another birthday, his 32nd to be exact, in Heaven with Jesus!  At his graveside service, I sang "I Know God Makes No Mistakes".  The feelings I had for this song came from years of joy and years of struggle.  Eddie came to us just two weeks before his 6th birthday.  Many nights we lay in bed and wondered if we had bitten off more than we could chew.  I wondered if my desire to have a child made me force the will of God!  Not just because I was overwhelmed with a special needs son, but because I wondered if I were right for Eddie!  Were Randy and I what Eddie needed to thrive and grow.

When we took Eddie to enroll him in school, we realized that he couldn't read.  The assistant principal, Miss Howell, helped us with some things to do at home.  When Eddie started in the 1st grade at Pensacola Christian, he knew his alphabet and blends.  He had a wonderful teacher who was single and young, but very wise on parenting.  She gave us many creative ways to teach Eddie things.  That year, Eddie bowed his head and trusted Christ.  The years passed on and Eddie continued to grow.  Some days were great, some not so great, but we carried on.  Eddie tolerating us; Randy and I loving him.

The day my mother-in-law called us to tell us that Eddie had died just a few hours before, I remember thinking "God Makes No Mistakes".  Eddie brought joy, fun, laughter, and many gray hairs to our lives.  I know if we did nothing else, we brought him Jesus and today he celebrates life with Him!!!

Happy Birthday, Eddie!  I love you!!

GOD MAKES NO MISTAKES
Words and music by: Kim Moore

My life I give to you O Lord use me I pray
May I glorify your precious name
In all I do and say
Let me trust you in the valley dark
as well as in the light
Knowing you will always lead me
Your will is always right

Chorus:
I know God makes no mistakes
He leads in every path I take
along the way that’s leading me to home
Tho at times my heart would break
there’s a purpose in every change He makes
that others would see my life and know
that God makes no mistakes.

And when someday in heaven above
I see His dear face
May I then be counted faithful
as a runner in this race
Now I’m trusting in the Savior
to show me the way
In His righteousness He guides me
as I seek to please Him day by day

Chorus:
I know God makes no mistakes
He leads in every path I take
along the way that’s leading me to home
Tho at times my heart would break
there’s a purpose in every change He makes
that others would see my life
and know that God makes no mistakes
