Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
In December I left my Bible at a ladies conference one evening. The next morning as I prepared my coffee and sat down to have my time with the Lord, I couldn't find my Bible anywhere. We started down the road to our next meeting and I stewed about that Bible. My husband offered me his, but it just wasn't the same! I have a Classic Note Bible that I LOVE to write in!!! It is my friend! I know right where my favorite verses are located and I can easily find what the Lord has been speaking to me about by the notes on the pages. God's word sharpens me just like the verse above talks about. That is why it is so important to read it, study it, memorize it, and share it with others!! I was so relieved when the pastor's wife emailed me to let me know that they indeed had my Bible!
Have you ever had a friend that you loved deeply and then you had a disagreement and that friend ignored you from then on? It hurts and makes you sad! Recently this happened to me and as I sat in my self pity, the Lord rebuked me about my attitude toward the situation. He also brought to my mind the times that I ignored Him and went on with my busy day. I never mean to hurt Him, I just get to rushing in my day and decide to put Him off until later. I will admit that even sometimes I have ignored my Bible because I didn't really want to know what God would say about the way I was living or the things I was doing.
Praise the Lord for His love, mercy, and longsuffering! I am so grateful for the most wonderful friend of all, the Lord!! John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
