Three Decades!

Taken this last week.

Dr. Evans, our college president, always used to say, "Men aren't measured in years, but in decades."  What did over 3 decades bring to our lives?:

1st Decade:
Before we were married 5 years, we had buried my mother, my husbands grandparents, and adopted our son.  The next five years were relatively quiet.  During that time we adopted Christa, moved to Michigan, back to Florida, then we moved to Maine where we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary.  I thought, "Smooth sailing from here.  Randy has a good career in the Navy, we have our children.  What else is there to do?"

2nd Decade:
Hmph!  My husband was called to the mission field.  By the time we celebrated our 15th anniversay, we had gotten out of the Navy, moved to Indiana, graduated Bible college, and started missionary deputation!  What a fun whirlwind that was!!

3rd Decade:
We celebrated our 20th anniversary in London for one night on the way back to our home in Portugal following our beloved pastor's Heaven going.  Just one month later, Randy was diagnosed with thyroid cancer that had spread to his lymph glands.  Randy had two surgeries and radioactive iodine treatment.  In 2001, Randy was treated for cancer, my father had a massive coronary and survived, and I was diagnosed with a benign bone tumor!  I was so glad when that year was over!  We enjoyed our 25th anniversary on the Big Island of Hawaii.  The 5 years prior had seen heartache and joy once again.  I had saliva gland tumor surgery, our son had gone to Heaven, and we had moved 15000 miles to Okinawa, Japan.  December 2009 I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Surgery, chemo, and a move back to the States mark the years since that December.  My dear sweetheart cared for me, loved me, made me laugh, and sacrificed his "vision" for my health.

4th Decade:
Wow!  I can't even imagine that!!  4 decades with my husband!!!!  The Lord has given my husband a new "vision", me healing, and a new place for us to serve!!  Not sure what this decade will hold, but if it is like the last three, we will have joy, heartache, mountain tops, and valleys.  I know the LORD will carry us through the times when it is too difficult to stand or walk.

Happy 31 Years of marriage, Randy!!! I can honestly say that I love you more today than I did when we first began. Only the LORD knew what would happen in those 31 years. Thank you for honoring the vows you took standing in front of your parent's fireplace in 1981.  It is a wonderful journey!!

What DOES My Husband Do All Day??

Someone else did these for other vocations, but I immediately thought of these pics for our job!!!!  I Love my husband and am so thankful that he is willing to do whatever the job calls for.  Sometimes it is preaching, praying, singing, driving, helping, serving, and sometimes we EVEN get to GOLF!!

Good Reports and Change!

Thank you, Al and Val!

I haven't done so well with this "Month of Love"!  We have been travelling and haven't had very good internet access.  Maybe next year.  Just so you know, I LOVE my husband more than ever and am so thankful for him and all he does to make my life easier!!

In November and December, I was having a little issue with weight loss.  I recently had a test and it ruled out cancer and ruled in diverticulitis.  This is much more manageable than if it had been cancer!  Hallelujah!!  Also, on February 2 I had a visit with my oncologist and everything looks great.  No sign of disease.  I still have the nodule and in June they will do a CAT scan to see if it has changed.  At that point, it will be a whole year past my infusions and we will know if it is something to be concerned about still.

Thank you to all for your prayers.  I NEVER take them for granted.

Now for the big news, we are moving to Connecticut.  Randy will be partnering with our home church, White Oak Baptist Church, and FirstBible.  He will be the New England representative for this wonderful mission.  We just returned from a trip that finalized the arrangements.  Dr. Keen, founder of FirstBible, has cleared everything and we are in the process of getting updated prayer cards and letterhead.  The people of White Oak have been a tremendous blessing to us.  I am excited about being able to be more active in our home church.  They have helped us secure a place to live and are helping to make the arrangements for our big move the end of March.

We will keep you posted.  If you would like to visit the website for FirstBible it is:

If you don't see us on there yet, no worries.  They are waiting for an updated picture which we are having taken this morning!!!

Well, that is my journey of late.  Praying that all of you are enjoying your journey also!

Thankful That My Husband is a Christian!

As I think about Cherie's family saying goodbye, I am reminded of the verses:  1 Thessalonians 4:13-14  But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

I am so comforted by the fact that my husband is a child of The King!!  and that someday he will be in Heaven.  This world is NOT our home.  We're just passing through!!

Heaven's Sounding Sweeter All the Time

I love this song and the older I grow, the more real it becomes.  My friend Cherie Dye is now in Heaven with the Lord.  We are praying for the family during this bitter sweet time.

***This morning Heaven is a little nicer place. Cherie Dye is looking at the face of Jesus, and is in no more pain. We here on earth are in tears, but so thankful for Jesus and His sacrifice at Calvary, so we can have that blessed hope that we will see her again. Praying for her family.***

The Month of Love!

Randy and I on the cable car high above Zacatecas, Mexico!
Today I start my month of LOVE!!  This is my anniversary month and on the 19th we will celebrate 31 fantastic years together!!  Were they perfect?  I'll answer that with a question.  Are we perfect?  NOPE.  However, we know after 31 years that two people need not be perfect to have a wonderful marriage.  There is a lot of forgiveness, giving the benefit of the doubt, trust, and responsibility that go into a strong marriage.  This month I am going to share everyday something that I am thankful for in my marriage. MARRIAGE is a wonderful thing!!

The most IMPORTANT part of our marriage is that we have a SAVIOUR that is strong enough for the both of us.  Years ago we read the verse in Ecclesiates 4:12 that says:  And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. We determined that the LORD would be the third person in our marriage.  Many times my husband and I were both broken, but the LORD held strong!  Hallelujah!

Today I am thankful for a husband that enjoys doing things with me.  He has his friends, but he chooses to spend time with me doing things we both like to do.
Randy and I in Furnas
Cooking in the volcano!

My favorite spot in the Azores that was quite a drive, but Randy always made sure that every few months he would take me there for a picnic and family time.
