Take A Lot On the Trip!

John 14:1-6  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
In February, we took a trip out to Connecticut, now our home.  The trip had a definite purpose.  We had prayed and fasted asking the Lord to make our short trip profitable in our search for a place to live.  We had asked the Lord to make it crystal clear where we should rent.  On Friday we arrived and Saturday we looked at the first house….Not for us!  The realtor said that we could see homes on Sunday that would probably be gone on Monday.  My husband said that Sunday was the Lord’s Day and that we would not look again until Monday.  We sent him a list of 12 houses we wanted to see.
On Monday, we met with the realtor, but as he predicted 8 of the 12 homes were already rented.  That left just four to look at.  I knew the Lord was narrowing our choices.  We only had a week to find a place and if we had too many choices, it would make it more difficult to know which the Lord’s choice was.  The first house was VERY small and really not ready to be rented.  On to the second, another very small one and very expensive!  The third home was on New Haven Avenue.  As soon as I walked in I knew it was the one.  The one we had prayed about, the one the Lord wanted us to live in (the one my furniture would fit it!).  I took Randy aside and told him, “This is it!”  He said that the realtor had one more for us to look at and he felt that we should be courteous to him and see it.  I reluctantly relented and off we went to the last house.  The realtor pulled into the driveway and there were people outside.  They told us that the house was already rented, but they hadn’t notified the realtor!  It was as if the Lord shone a spotlight on just the right place.  His path was plain!  Psalms 27:11  Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
We arrived back in Ohio the next week knowing exactly where we were going to be living in our new state!  As we packed and planned, we measured the furniture to see which room would be Christa’s or ours.  Also, where would the home office be set up and which desk would go there?  Would Randy’s bookshelves fit into the new office at the church?  So many questions, but since we already knew the layout and measurements of the new house and church office, it was so much easier to decide what would go where.
My dear friend, Val, flew out to Ohio and helped us the last few days and then she and I took turns driving our car to Connecticut.  As we drove, we listened to the Hutson Sister’s CD “Glad Reunion Day”.  They recorded the CD soon after their father went to Heaven.  One of the songs has Dr. Curtis Hutson and his wife singing.  Before they sing, the CD has several clips from one of his sermons on Heaven.  It is my favorite.  I love to hear his voice say, “Let not your heart be troubled.”  He is of course, quoting our Saviour Jesus Christ.

“’Let not your heart be troubled.’  You can take a lot on the trip if you know what’s at the end.”  Dr. Curtis Hutson
I started thinking about how much easier this move was than when we landed back in the US.  This time we knew where we were going to put our furniture.  As we packed for the move to Connecticut, I sorted through the many things that have accumulated over the last 30 years of marriage.  There were things that I hadn’t used in a long time and things that were never going to fit into the new house.  We gave these things away and kept the many things that would be a help in our new residence and Randy’s new job.  We KNEW what was at the end of our trip on March 21, 2012.

Someday, I am going to take another “trip”.  I too know where I am going!  I KNOW what is at the end!  I know what is important to take along and what should be left behind.  What’s important and what’s not!
“Heaven is an actual real place…  You know we’re going someplace.  I know they say we’re just imagining it, but the longer I live the more real it gets to me.  They say, well everybody has to have a little something to encourage them on.  This is not a little something.  This is a solid fact.  There’s a real Heaven.”  Dr. Curtis Hutson

HALLELUJAH
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Friend, Jesus IS the only way.  He said it, not me.  Won’t you take time to come to Jesus?  See yourself as He sees you, a sinner in need of a Saviour.  He wants you to be able to take the trip to Heaven, but the choice is yours.  He doesn’t force anyone.
What are you taking on your journey??  What’s at the end of your trip?  The choice is yours.
