Thankworthy Thursday - It's a CHOICE!

The snow from Nemo!  All this in ONE night!!
Psalms 27:13  I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

Everyday is thankworthy, but I decided to focus one day a week where I really pay attention to all the thankworthy things in my life!  It is always amazing to me when I speak to ladies groups and ask for a testimony and NO ONE has anything to be thankful for!  "Wait," you say, "Maybe they are just shy."  Shy about thanking God for all that He has done and given, hmmmmmmmmm???  Ok, maybe you would argue the point that they just have so many difficulties going on that they can't think of anything to be thankworthy in their life.  I would have to say that I have had some difficult days in my life. Terribly difficult days in my life and yet I have always made myself look beyond the difficult and reach for the joy.  It is a choice.  I am just like any other person, I have some very bad and grouchy days.  Life just doesn't seem fair and I wonder when it will be someone else's turn to suffer the things I have had to suffer.  I really don't want anyone else having to go through my kind of trials, I just want to be done with my own!  I want to push the pain away and have it no more.  However, it seems as though my life on this earth is going to have difficult times.  Everyone is born dying and so illness and death are going to be a part of my life.  Financial hardships will come to many.  I know some people on difficult journeys right now, could I encourage you to make a choice and make yourself see the joyful things the Lord has given you?

You are the only one who can make that decision for yourself.  If you want me to pray for you about this, please just comment below this post.  It doesn't get published until I publish it, so if you don't want it to appear in public let me know.  I will put your name on my private prayer list and delete the comment.  Make sure you put your email address in the comment, so I can contact you.

I go back to the original purpose for my blog....Believe to SEE!!

Wacky Wednesday - Our lovely daughter!

Someone might think that this is a strange title, but I decided that people need to know how much fun our family has and how we can laugh at ourselves!

Today's story comes from Monday.  Christa teaches an hour north of us and comes home for the weekends.  On Monday morning at 545 am she makes the trek back north.  She goes by the house where she is staying and drops her dog and some things off before she heads to the school.  Monday she had our dog with her also as we are preparing for a trip and will be gone for a week.  At about 7:10 I received a call from her and she was laughing.  Her first words were, "Mommy, I learned a valuable lesson about why you shouldn't leave the car running with the dog inside."  My mind immediately rushed to the worst.  That the dog had engaged the engine and it rolled down the driveway into the street, but she was laughing so I immediately dismissed that scenario! She went on to tell me that the dog became excited and stepped on the lock!!!  Praise the Lord for a handy and helpful friend who was able to get it unlocked and she was not late for school.
Proverbs 11:2  When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
One thing Christa teaches me over and over is to laugh and learn.  So many times I am embarrassed to admit my shortcomings.  Christa is teaching me that it is so important to set pride aside.  So my admonition to you this week is to Laugh and Learn

Testimony Tuesday - God's Provision

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.     Psalms 37:25
As a missionary, every month is a new adventure in travel and in finances!!  On February 1st our support was almost $1700 below our average!  An opportunity to pray and watch the Lord provide our needs!  He has never failed in the past and I am happy to testify that this month was NO different!  Watching the Lord provide is exciting!  How did He do it?  First, my husband was asked at the last minute to fill some pulpits for missions.  Second, we went to a Preacher's Fellowship and the pastor hosting it asked us to come the night before and present our work.  This pastor put us in a hotel and then gave us a love offering.  We were not expecting this!  Our anniversary trip to Newport, RI, was cut very short when a tree fell on our hotel and we lost power during the infamous winter storm, Nemo.  A few days ago we received an email that the booking agency refunded our money!!!  I could go on and on, but I wanted to share with all of you just some of the ways that the LORD is taking care of us!

Missionary Monday - Great Friends

Galatians 6:2  Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

One of the fabulous things about being a missionary is all the people you meet and the friends you make from around the world!  This is one of my favorite things about being a missionary, because I LOVE people!!  Last night one of our dear old (meaning - have known them awhile) friends stopped in at our church.  We call him Bouncing Bob! His wife was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and had a mastectomy.  He and Randy had an encouraging visit helping to lift one another's burdens.  I received an email late last night from a friend far away with a Bible verse to encourage me today.  She wanted to be sure I had it for this morning.  Isn't it wonderful that we serve a God who knows exactly what and when we need something??!!  He helps us bear our burdens by sending others to grab the end that is dragging!!  Is there some missionary you know that could use some help "bearing" their burden?  Ask the Lord to show you how you can help!!

Happy Anniversary to my VERY BEST FRIEND!!

August 1980 - When it all began!

I can't believe it has already been 32 years since we said "I do"!  I have to admit that I never dreamed that we would experience all the mountain tops and valleys that we did!  God has been the one holding us together.  Randy and I are teaching a class on Wednesday evenings on marriage.  While preparing for the class we reviewed all the things that the Lord has shown us, done in us, and taught us through the years.  We are NOT perfect (well I am most of the time!), but we have a perfect Father who knows what we need and where to direct our steps.
I am very thankful for the husband He gave me.  Randy is a rock and doesn't waiver.  I would have to say that it is the quality I admire in him the most.  He has had to face some tough times and make some difficult decisions over the years.  He takes his time, prays, seeks guidance, and then moves.  He is like a steady ship in a storm.  Just keeps going the way he is supposed to and trusts that the Lord will take care of the details.  He has integrity, fierce loyalty, and a deep sense of duty.  What more can I say???
