No Parades

Mom and Me

March 9 became a memory stone in my life 28 years ago.  It is a day that I won't forget and don't want to forget.  This day my lovely mother left this earth to begin her life in Heaven.  Many times when a famous person passes, we celebrate their lives very publicly.  There are parades, speeches, special days at school, etc.  Today, however, there will be no parade to remember all the wonderful things she represented in many people's lives.  Today there will be memories!  Memories of her smiling face and the caress of her hand on my cheek.  I can still remember her sitting at the piano playing while we sang together.  She would talk to total strangers in line at McDonald's, and sit for hours drinking coffee at a restaurant.  She wasn't a fabulous cook (OK, Gwen, no laughing), but we had food on the table.

Proverbs 10:12b  ... but love covereth all sins.

I am sure there are some not so nice memories, but I choose to forget those.  My mother wasn't perfect and soon after I became a mom, I realized I was probably never going to win the "Mother-of-the-year" award!  I am very appreciative of the fact that Christa doesn't spread my "bad" things around, but loves me enough to forgive and move on.  I choose the same for my parents.  Forgetting those things behind!!!

I miss you Mom!  If I lived closer to your grave and had the money, I would blanket the area with ballons and flowers.  Not for you to see, as you are not there, but for the World to know how much you are loved and missed!! Thank you for all you taught me and thank you for loving me when I was unlovely!  You are my hero!!!

SON-ny Sunday - "...Of a truth thou art the Son of God."

Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.  Matthew 14:33

Good SON-ny Sunday morning!  Even if it's not sunny where you are, you can still have a Son filled day!  The disciples in this passage had just had a very stormy time!  Their boat had been tossed to and fro ,the waves had tried to swallow their ship, and Peter had even tried walking on the water!  It could have been a terrible day, but the Saviour shown through and their lives were saved. No one had to tell them who the man was!  They knew for certain it was the Son of God!

Stewardship Saturday - Taking Care of What God Has Given Us

Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
1 Corinthians 4:2

God has given us many things to enjoy in this life. He expects also that we take care of those things. That's what being a steward is .  It is taking care of things that have been entrusted to our care. I was thinking about this topic for today and it occurred to me that "days " are important to steward also!  I need to be sure that I am using my days wisely and for the best. On Saturdays I try to be a good steward by getting ready for Sunday.  Sunday is a very hectic day for my family. And so on Saturdays I try to make sure that I visit people that I've been inviting to church. I try to make sure our clothes are ready for Sunday. I even plan out what I'm going to make for dinner on Sunday. I know this sounds a little excessive but that way when Sunday arrives, I am ready for whatever the day holds. A good Sunday for me has a lot to do with how I spent my Saturday.

Time is such an important commodity today! May we be good stewards of this precious gift.

Faithful Friday - Friend or foe?

Proverbs 11:13  A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

As I ponder today's post, I must ask myself some very difficult questions.  The verse above is talking about someone who tells the TRUTH, but reveals secrets or things that would be better left unsaid.  I have to be honest and say that I am so human in this area.  The verse goes on to say that he that is of a faithful spirit, keeps it to himself and doesn't pass it on.  I feel there are many of us who haven't been exactly trustworthy in this area.  Someone in church gets upset with a fellow BROTHER or SISTER.  They tell someone, maybe they are upset and it is quite by accident.  The person they tell takes up the cause and talks to someone else and pretty soon there are a lot of UPSET people.  The devil really likes to keep us stirred up and discontent.  It doesn't stop.

I do know one who is faithful all the time!  He took my sins to the cross and though He knows all my dirty little secrets and short comings, He doesn't tell them to anyone.  In fact, He can't even remember what they are!!!  Hallelujah!!

Have we been faithful to conceal a matter? Or do we make sure that everyone knows about the problem? Let's be faithful to pray, faithful to love, faithful to be quiet.
